Should sex education be offered in schools?

I think it’s quite important. Sex should be discussed and kids should be informed so that we can prevent some of these diseases. Also because of AIDS. People need to understand that. To be informed is not to promote anything; it’s just to make people aware. I think not to inform or not to make people aware is the most detrimental thing. |

I think they should have it in there so that the kids will know cuz so many kids are having sex now these days. You’re not encouraging anything. It will just get them to stop and think about it. First, you need to save yourself for marriage and there are so many diseases going around these days. [Condom distribution] is fine.

Yes. I think that students don’t always get the education that they need at home. [If someone believes that it would encourage them to do it, then] I suspect that they probably don’t know young people very well because I suspect most young people are probably experimental on their own unless their families have taught them not to do that. But I don’t think that you can just assume that’s going to happen. |

Absolutely because I think it’s an obligation of the schools in the community in order to protect young people. My mother brought up two daughters and generally when people have religious differences or don’t agree with the program, they can opt out. That’s almost always a part of it. And as long as there is a provision for people to opt out if they don’t approve, then absolutely. |

I think that the parents should be more involved in that. I think that it’s more the parents place than the school. It’s okay for the schools to do it in some sense. I think that it depends on what part of sex education that they are getting out to the children. Parents should really tell them the dangers of STDs, teen pregnancy and everything that a young child should know. |
