The Anne Arundel County Department of Health has canceled its second-dose vaccination appointments Tuesday and Wednesday after a batch of vaccine expected from the Maryland Department of Health failed to arrive.

County officials said Monday that recipients scheduled for their initial vaccine dose won’t be affected by the delay, WTTG-TV (Channel 5) reported.

The county said 7,000 second-dose vaccines have been held up the past two weeks but deliveries are supposed to come later this week. People with appointments for their second dose will be notified by email and voice messages and have the opportunity to get their shots Saturday.

Those unable to make it Saturday will be give a future appointment, WTTG reported.

As of Tuesday, Anne Arundel County has logged approximately 34,000 coronavirus cases and 482 virus-related deaths since the pandemic’s start. Roughly 63,000 county residents have been vaccinated so far, with nearly 16,500 of those already receiving both doses.
