Anne Arundel County leaders have launched a coronavirus vaccine incentive program that could have county employees get a one-time $1,000 payment for inoculation by Nov. 30.

Starting the week of Sept. 13, county employees will be able to enter their vaccination information into a secure web portal, the county announced Wednesday. Those eligible include employees who have already been vaccinated, those who get vaccinated by Nov. 30 and temporary or contractual workers who worked more than 1,000 hours in fiscal 2020 and are still employed the week of Sept. 13.

Federal funds will be used to pay for the incentive program.

“Through working closely with our agency and union leadership, we developed an incentive we believe will help get more of our staff vaccinated,” said County Executive Steuart Pittman. “With cold and flu season rapidly approaching, we must do everything in our power to boost vaccination rates and we believe that this program will do just that among our public servants.”
