The president of Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation and his International Business Development Team hosted Tuesday an impromptu delegation of 11 business leaders from the China SanDing Holding Group in Yiwu Zhejiang, China, who have been on a five-day tour of the United States.
Led by Lisa Liu, EDC Asian Business committee chair, the delegation heard from EDC President and CEO Jim Coleman as he talked about the development projects taking place in the county, as well as those on the horizon. The delegation, impressed with projects and plans taking place in Prince George’s County, committed to working with the EDC for lucrative opportunities to invest at least $500 million in the county’s real estate projects and companies.
“[The delegation’s] visit is a great prelude to County Executive Baker’s Korea/China trade mission next year,” Coleman said. “We are taking this opportunity to plant the seeds of success and looking for a great harvest to come with our new friends from China. Prince George’s County has a strong track record of matchmaking the right projects with the right investors. We are committed to helping the SanDing Group find the best projects to invest their $500 million.”
Coleman also told the delegation about County Executive Baker’s international business plan, which includes the mission trip to Korea and China from April 17-25.
“The goal of our mission is to obtain a heightened knowledge of business in this area, to establish business relationships, and to find commercial projects to invest in,” said Zhimin Ding, chair and president of China SanDing Holding Group. “With everything that is going on in Prince George’s County, we welcome the opportunity to work with the Economic Development Corporation and look forward to hosting them when they come to China next year.”
