The encore run of Steven A. Butler’s provocative play, “Chocolate Covered Ants,” which earned a nod on the highly-prestigious Helen Hayes recommended show list following its debut in February 2016, will end Nov. 13. The play, presented by locally-based Restoration Stage, Inc., was directed by Courtney Baker-Oliver, can be seen at the Anacostia Playhouse in Southeast. One of the actors, MarQuis Fair, who appeared in both the earlier and current production, shared his views. “The show has so much richness and attempts to not only identify many of the ‘taboo’ issues within the Black community, but to fully flesh out individuals we all know, in one way or another. The play is also about family – when the cast and crew come together it feels like home. Each time we come together and use our magic to coalesce into a powerful spell, for that brief moment in time it enthralls the audience. Being part of that magic is irresistible.”
