D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and the city’s transportation department have announced the return of Open Streets on Oct. 2 to Georgia Avenue in Northwest.
The measure, announced Friday in information from Bowser’s office, celebrates the first in a series of Open Streets events to be held in 2021-22 in all eight wards of the city.
During the upcoming event, three miles of Georgia Avenue between Barry Place and Missouri Avenue will be closed to vehicles from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to the mayor’s office.
The corridor, however, will be open to residents and visitors to walk, bike, run and scooter through and visitors will have opportunities to support local businesses and participate in a range of activities.
