Award-winning radio host Joe Madison, who this year was named one of the nation’s 10 most important hosts by Talkers magazine, is among the eight 2019 inductees into the National Radio Hall of Fame.

Other honorees of the ceremony, which takes place Friday evening at Gotham Hall in midtown Manhattan, include Ryan Seacrest, morning man on iHeartMedia’s KIIS-FM Los Angeles, John Tesh, host of “Intelligence for your Life,” and Dr. Ruth Westheimer, former host of “The Dr. Ruth Show” on NBC Radio.

Madison, 70, who can be heard nationally every weekday morning from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. EST on SiriusXM Urban View, Channel 126, will be only the 11th African American broadcaster inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Madison’s 35-year career includes broadcasts around the world, interviews with newsmakers including President Barack Obama and musicians Aretha Franklin and Harry Belafonte, and a world record 52-hour broadcast that raised more than $250,000 for the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Madison, formerly on WXYZ Detroit, WWRC and WOL Washington, DC, was also recently profiled in the Los Angeles Sentinel.
