A Black woman will be elected as Chicago’s next mayor. I guess that’s a good thing and fist-bump for identity politics if you’re Black and a woman. I must admit that I, myself, have become disillusioned with the American political system. Seems to be about headlines and pomp and circumstance. A Black woman is in office of a major city … great. But there are still kids, men, women and children dying in the street. That harsh reality has me not in a celebratory mood. Black woman and all.

Bridging the Gap

The Bridge looks amazing. Whoever that photographer is needs a pat on the back. At my age, I instantly feel younger looking at the young people captured so beautifully. I look forward to seeing the creativity of the young ones next month.
