Rev. Linda Marie Brown, a D.C. native and longtime member of the historic St. Paul AME Church, died on Jan. 24. She was 67.
Born on May 19, 1953, Brown was raised in Washington, D.C., and was a graduate of Anna Burdick Vocational High School. Upon graduation, she entered the health care field and later became a dedicated rehabilitation assistant of Sibley Hospital until her retirement in 1997.
Brown became a member of the Allen Chapel AME Church in Washington, D.C., on April 19, 1979, and was ordained as a reverend on Nov. 22, 2002. She relocated to Lexington, Ky., and became a faithful member of St. Paul AME Church.
She is survived by her daughters Latasha Austin-Williams (Adrian) and Marquitta McKinney-Nelson, her grandchildren Juwan Avans, Sir Samuel Zion McKinney, Joi McKinney and Jamari Nelson; her sisters Patricia Brown, Jacqueline Greene and Sarah Brown along with a host of relatives and friends.
Brown was preceded in death by her parents, Cleve and Annie Darby, sisters Edith Hogan, Ann Hall and Stephanie Pinckney, and her husband, Milton H. Brown Sr.
