After two White officers manhandled and stripped Chikesia Clemons during an arrest in an Alabama Waffle House caught on camera in April, protests sparked against what’s been described as a violation of the young woman’s human rights and another instance of race-based police brutality. Months after her ordeal, and a disorderly conduct conviction, Clemons has her sights set on effecting change in the ballot box this November.
