The parents of Trayvon Martin appeared on ABC’s “The View” Monday to announce the Jan. 31 release of “Rest in Power,” a book they co-authored in their continuing fight for their son’s legacy following his shooting death five years ago in Sanford, Florida, by self-proclaimed neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman.

On the eve of the anniversary of Trayvon’s death, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin are both reportedly considering running for public office to “be part of the change” they think the nation needs.

The parents, who are looking to change things from the inside out, fear that President Donald Trump will reverse the progress that’s been made, USA Today reported.

“Since Trayvon’s death, we saw how divided the country is on these issues, and we saw how the country can come together,”
Martin told Capital Download. “You have those that are for uniting the country, and you have those that want to be apart. And what this new presidency does, it takes those that want to be apart and it puts them right in the position where they can say, ‘We’ll change the laws, and we’ll make it tougher.’”
