President Donald Trump candidly admitted earlier this week that the coronavirus pandemic will not subside an time soon, and urged Americans to wear masks to protect themselves.
The president made this revelation Tuesday at a coronavirus press briefing, the first he has held since late April.
“It will get worse before it gets better,” Trump said as reported by CNN. “That’s something I don’t like saying, but it is.”
Trump urged Americans to wear masks at the press conference also, a first but didn’t issue a mandate to so.
“We’re asking everybody that, when you’re not able to social distance, wear a mask,” he said. “Whether you like the mask or not, they have an impact. They have an effect. We need everything we can get.”
