The U.S. reported a record-high 121,888 new coronavirus cases Thursday — the second straight day the country has set a new mark for daily cases.

The U.S. also had 1,210 coronavirus-related deaths Thursday, according to a Johns Hopkins University tracker.

On Wednesday, the country surpassed the six-figure mark in daily coronavirus cases for the first time, reporting 102,831 new cases.

As of Friday, the U.S. has nearly 9.7 million coronavirus cases and more than 235,000 related deaths — both tops globally — according to the Johns Hopkins tracker.
