The U.S. reported 4,327 new coronavirus-related deaths Tuesday, setting yet another morbid record as states rush to ramp up vaccination efforts.
It marked the second time in the past week that the daily death toll surpassed 4,000 after doing so Thursday for the first time since the pandemic began, according to a Johns Hopkins University tracker.
As of Wednesday, the national death toll is roughly 382,000, with the number of cases nearing 23 million, according to the Johns Hopkins tracker.
On the vaccination front, more than 29 million doses have been distributed, though only about 10 million have received the first round of the two-shot vaccine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
