Unity of Washington, DC Observes World Day of Prayer

On Thursday, Sept. 14, Unity of Washington, DC (Unity WDC) will join Silent Unity — a global, trans-denominational 24/7 prayer ministry — and Unity churches around the world for the 24th annual Unity World Day of Prayer.

Residents in the Washington metropolitan area are invited to attend events being offered at Unity WDC, located at 1225 R Street NW, and Lafayette Park.

Unity created World Day of Prayer as a global effort to uplift our world in shared prayer consciousness.

“World Day of Prayer gives us an opportunity to come together in celebration of our oneness with God, each other, and the world,” said Rev. Sylvia Sumter, senior minister at Unity WDC. “Through prayer we foster peace and wholeness in our community and in our individual lives.”

Since its inception 24 years ago, this sacred initiative has supported more than 15 million people with prayer. The theme of the 24-hour prayer event is “Peace in the Midst.” This year’s affirmation is “I am peace in the midst of all matters!”
