Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis has signed on to play the role of former first lady Michelle Obama for the upcoming Showtime series “First Ladies.”

The show, which will focus on the East Wing, will reportedly “peel back the curtain on the personal and political lives” of past first ladies, according to Variety.

Davis, a fan of Obama, shared the news of her new role on Twitter, writing: “Sooo proud!!! Honoring and elevating these powerful, worthy Queens with respect.”

Although a full cast has yet to be announced, the White House roles of Eleanor Roosevelt and Betty Ford will also be featured.

Davis won’t be the first actress to portray Obama onscreen, as Tika Sumpter played her in 2016’s “Southside with You.”
