Officials at Virginia Union University have canceled an on-campus event scheduled for Martin Luther King Jr. Day that would have honored President Donald Trump.
The Urban Revitalization Coalition had planned to host the event Monday at the Richmond university’s Live and Learning Center.
A flyer posted on social media touted the gathering as an “invitation-only event” with a $30,000 cash giveaway. The event would have honored Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, VUU President Hakim J. Lucas and White House executive Johnathan Holifield.
“The January 20th MLK Day event that has been circulating on social media will not be held at VUU,” read a statement issued by the university.
