D.C. largely withstood the first winter storm the area has seen in years, but the metropolitan region isn’t quite out of the woods yet.
The D.C. metro area is under a winter weather advisory until 9 a.m. Tuesday, with scattered snow showers possibly bringing up to an inch of accumulation on top of the 2 to 5 inches that fell in the region Sunday.
As the storm continues to lift off to the Northeast, Washingtonians will feel a decrease in winds before the snow begins to taper off Tuesday, according to The Weather Channel.
But the freezing temperatures could make for hazardous travel as roads begin to ice over, particularly on side streets and in residential areas that haven’t been treated yet, so local officials advise motorists to stay home unless necessary.
