The works of a diverse slate of contemporary African and African American-artists recently went on display at the Zenith Gallery in D.C., coinciding with the Sept. 20 opening of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Annual Leadership Conference.
The Zenith Gallery’s celebration of the African Heritage Month and the caucus gathering in D.C. includes an array of bright-colored canvases as well as wood and multimedia sculptures of artists, including Mali native Ibou N’Diaye, Afolabi of Nigeria, D.C. natives Preston Sampson and Robert Freeman, and others.
The exhibit, “Black Artists of Today: Reinventing Tomorrow!” will be on display through Jan. 6 and will include a “Meet the Artists” reception from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20.
The reception will take place at 1111 Pennsylvania Ave NW.
