Zoom, the video-chat behemoth, plans to waive its 40-minute limit on free meetings for the Thanksgiving holiday.

“As a thank you to our customers, we will be lifting the 40-minute limit for all meetings globally from midnight ET on Nov. 26 through 6 a.m. ET on Nov. 27 so your family gatherings don’t get cut short,” the company tweeted earlier this month.

Zoom rose to prominence this year as the coronavirus pandemic gripped the world and more schools and businesses had to go virtual.

The company’s Thanksgiving waiver comes in the wake of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issuing its safety guidelines for the holiday, which stress staying at home with only household members as the safest option amid the pandemic.
