โ€œA Soldierโ€™s Play,โ€ the first Broadway production of Charles Fullerโ€™s award-winning drama, officially opens Jan. 21 at the Roundabout Theatre Company in New York City.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, starring David Alan Grier as Sergeant Vernon C. Waters and Blair Underwood as Captain Richard Davenport, also includes the cast of Nnamdi Asomugha, Jerry Oโ€™Connell, McKinley Belcher III, Rob Demery, Jared Grimes, Billy Eugene Jones, Nate Mann, Warner Miller, J. Alphonse Nicholson and Lee Aaron Rosen.

The storyline is set in 1944 at a Louisiana Army base where a sergeant is murdered. The crime triggers a barrage of questions about sacrifice, service and identity in America.

The play comes to Broadway for the first time under direction of Tony Award winner Kenny Leon (โ€œA Raisin in the Sunโ€).
