The U.S. governmentโ€™s supply of remdesivir, the only known drug to treat the coronavirus, will run out at the end of June, said an official with the Department of Health and Human Services.

The governmentโ€™s last shipment of the drug will go out the week of June 29, CNN reported Monday. Gilead Sciences Inc., the company that makes the drug, has begun the process of making more but doesnโ€™t know how much will be available this summer.

โ€œRight now, weโ€™re waiting to hear from Gilead what is their expected delivery availability of the drug as we go from June to July,โ€ Dr. Robert Kadlee, an official with the Department of Health and Human Services, told CNN. โ€œWeโ€™re kind of not in negotiations, but in discussions with Gilead as they project what the availability of their product will be.โ€
