Although scientists are on track to develop an effective and safe vaccine at record speed, newly released information from multiple manufacturers of a COVID-19 vaccine are bolsteromg glimmers of hope, according to research outcomes.
While three research groups on Monday separately released early positive results related to an effective vaccine for long-term protection against the virus, experts caution that such early studies, though promising, will need to be confirmed with larger Phase 3 trials involving tens of thousands of people.
So far, there are at least 23 COVID-19 vaccine candidates that have progressed to various stages of human studies, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
Professor Adrian Hill, director of Oxfordโs Jenner Institute, in an interview with ABC News, called the latest data very โencouraging,โ adding that experts are โseeing both arms of the immune systems stimulated very strongly by the vaccine.โ
