The Department of Parks and Recreation in Prince Georgeโ€™s County, part of the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission, recently announced its upcoming exhibition at the Brentwood Arts Exchange in Brentwood.

An exhibition, Anna U Davis’s “Road to Recovery,” will take place from March 25 to May 18. Davis, a D.C. artist by way of Lund, Sweden, will show an important body of work that delves into the powerful personal journey of living life with breast cancer. The exhibition is a collection of mixed media paintings exploring her journey from diagnosis, through treatment and recovery.

There will be an opening reception on April 6 from 5-8 p.m. and an artist talk on April 27 from 2-4 p.m.

Davis is a two-time recipient of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and received multiple fellowships from the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities.

“The Genesis Project: Volume 4” featuring Kay Lee and Becky McFall will take place from March 25 to May 18. The opening reception will occur on April 6 from 5-8 p.m. and the artist talk will take place on April 27 from 2-4 p.m.

The Genesis Project is a yearlong, collaborative wall exhibition, featuring a group of 10 artists selected by visual art stakeholders in the Gateway Arts District. During each โ€œVolume,โ€ selected artists will come together to create an immersive wall piece.

Each Volume will allow artists to use previous work as inspiration to work over and alongside the original piece. Lee created pieces that captivate and evoke emotions.

McFall, a former art teacher, specializes in portraiture, mixed-media, mobiles, and biology-inspired art. She experiments with combining materials as well as exploring three-dimensional space.
