The roads surrounding Howard University will be closed as of 7 p.m. Nov. 4 due to the Harris-Waltz presidential campaign holding an Election event starting on Nov. 5 at the institution.
The university will suspend its operations due to the activity surrounding Vice President Kamala Harrisโs presence on the campus. Harris is a graduate of Howard University.
Parking restrictions surrounding the university started on Nov. 3 and are expected to last until Nov. 10 at 6 a.m.
How long the roads will be closed is based on security requirements set by the U.S. Secret Service, in coordination with the Districtโs Metropolitan Police Department. Plus, the affected streets are being designated as Emergency No Parking zones.
The affected streets are:
- Gresham Place from 5th Street NW to Georgia Avenue NW
- Girard Street from Georgia Avenue NW to 6th Street NW
- Fairmont Street from Georgia Avenue NW to 6th Street NW
- Euclid Street from Sherman Avenue NW to Georgia Avenue NW
- Howard Place from Georgia Avenue NW to 6th Street NW
- Barry Place from Sherman Avenue NW to Georgia Avenue NW
- College Street from 6th Street to 4th Street NW
- 300 block of College Street NW
- Bryant Street NW from Georgia Avenue to 2nd Street NW
- W Street NW from 9th Street NW to 8th Street NW
- W Street NW from Georgia Avenue NW to 2nd Street NW
- V Street NW from Florida Avenue NW to Georgia Avenue NW
- 9th Street NW from Euclid Street to U Street, NW
- 8th Street NW from Barry Place NW to V Street NW
- Georgia Avenue NW from Harvard Street NW to Florida Avenue NW
- 6th Street NW from Girard Street NW to W Street NW
- 5th Street NW from V Street NW to W Street NW
- 4th Street NW from V Street NW to McMillan Drive NW
