The Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia has officially launched its annual Winter Ready DC campaign.

The campaignโ€™s goal is to help D.C. residents prepare for colder months with free weatherization tools and energy-saving tips. Throughout this month, residents can visit participating libraries to pick up a complemental weatherization item and speak with commission staff on ways to reduce energy consumption and costs this winter.

Information on utility discount programs for eligible consumers and guidance for weather-related event preparedness will also be available.

โ€œA weatherized home reduced carbon emissions and saves money while increasing home comfort,โ€ said Commission Chairman Emile C. Thompson. โ€œSealing air leaks around windows and doors is one of the simplest and efficient ways to improve energy efficiency, and it can make a significant impact on your energy bill.โ€

Registration is encouraged but not required. Weatherization items are available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. Only D.C. residents qualify.
