The Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia has officially launched its annual Winter Ready DC campaign.
The campaignโs goal is to help D.C. residents prepare for colder months with free weatherization tools and energy-saving tips. Throughout this month, residents can visit participating libraries to pick up a complemental weatherization item and speak with commission staff on ways to reduce energy consumption and costs this winter.
Information on utility discount programs for eligible consumers and guidance for weather-related event preparedness will also be available.
โA weatherized home reduced carbon emissions and saves money while increasing home comfort,โ said Commission Chairman Emile C. Thompson. โSealing air leaks around windows and doors is one of the simplest and efficient ways to improve energy efficiency, and it can make a significant impact on your energy bill.โ
Registration is encouraged but not required. Weatherization items are available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. Only D.C. residents qualify.
