The Wizards will host Donate Life Night on Oct. 28 when they face the Philadelphia 76ers at Capital One Arena, partnering with MedStar Health to raise awareness during Donate Life Month.

More than 104,000 people in the United States are waiting for an organ transplant, with 95% needing a kidney or liver donation, according to the team.

Sharlett Nobles, director of suite experience for Monumental Sports & Entertainment and a MedStar Health patient, will be recognized before the game and serve as co-captain. Nobles is undergoing dialysis while on the transplant list for a new kidney. She will share her story in a pregame interview with Dr. Alexander Gilbert of MedStar Health and Wes Hall of Monumental Sports Network.

Gilbert specializes in nephrology and kidney transplantation at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.

A pregame happy hour will be held in Devils Backbone Lounge with Nobles’ friends, family and supporters, as well as MedStar Health staff.

The Wizards will celebrate Box Out Cancer Night on Nov. 1 when they host the Orlando Magic, also in partnership with MedStar Health.

Fans can visit Section 115 on the concourse to fill out “I Fight For…” signs in honor or support of those affected by or fighting cancer. Fans can also participate in a digital fan wall “I Fight For” cam, submitting photos of themselves holding the signs. The photos will be shown on the video board during the game. Attendees can choose from different colored cancer awareness ribbons, each signifying support for a different cancer.

At halftime, MedStar Health cancer survivors will participate in a bell-ringing ceremony to signify their cancer is in remission. Throughout the game, the 202 crew will wear Box Out Cancer T-shirts, and a PSA video featuring Wizards players sharing messages of encouragement for those battling cancer will be shown.
