As we enter a brand new year, let us move through 2026 with your goals in mind. It is the perfect time to align our daily ambitions with a higher purpose. Do not allow the conditions of our government to throw you off track. You and I cannot do anything about what’s going on at this time. That change will come at the voting booths in a few years. However, for those seeking to grow your faith and impact the world, setting spiritual goals can turn a routine year into a transformative journey.
It feels almost like the days of the American Civil War, though, with the North and South getting different kinds of treatment from our president. He is much more lenient and giving to the red states, and blue states are suffering more cuts than usual. To this president, it is about retribution, and he is not trying to hide the fact that he is doing this.
He has been going after those who placed charges on him, and he has gotten most of them thrown out. So with the new year beginning, think about yourself. With the help of God and his angels, make a plan.
Here are four positive goals to help you cultivate a life of purpose and peace. Regardless of your goal, you must define clearly your purpose first:
Cultivate a “Heart of Service”: True fulfillment is often found in the service of others. This year, look for ways to be the “hands and feet” of your faith within your local community. Whether it’s volunteering at a food bank or mentoring a neighbor, small acts of kindness reflect a greater love. You can find local opportunities through VolunteerMatch to start making a tangible difference today.
Prioritize Daily Stillness: In a world that never stops moving, silence is a radical act of devotion. Set a goal to spend 15 minutes each morning in prayer, meditation, or reading sacred texts. This practice grounds your spirit and allows you to listen for divine guidance before the noise of the day takes over. Using tools like the YouVersion Bible App or similar faith-based organizers can help you stay consistent.
Practice Radical Gratitude: It is easy to focus on what we lack, but faith calls us to celebrate what we have. Start a “Grace Journal” where you record three things you are thankful for each evening. By shifting your focus toward your blessings, you naturally cultivate a more optimistic and resilient mindset, even during challenging seasons.
Foster Community and Connection: Faith was never meant to be a solo journey. Make it a goal to deepen your relationships within your spiritual community. Attend a new study group, host a dinner for friends, or join a global faith forum. Building these bridges provides the emotional and spiritual support necessary to navigate the complexities of modern life.
The Bottom Line: As you pursue these goals throughout 2026, remember that progress is more important than perfection. Every step taken in faith is a step toward a more meaningful and joyful life.
Finally, Find New Ways to Invest: For Black families to invest wisely in 2026 and build generational wealth, a key strategy involves a combination of debt elimination, strategic investments, and leveraging financial resources. Start with a strong financial foundation, such as paying off high-interest debt and establishing an emergency fund, which creates stability for future investments.
Black families can then diversify their portfolios by investing in appreciating assets like real estate and a mix of stocks, bonds, and retirement accounts (e.g., 401(k) and IRA) to manage risk and maximize returns. Overcoming hesitation to engage with the stock market by seeking education and utilizing free investment accounts from platforms like Fidelity or Charles Schwab is a critical step in using “America’s great equalizer” for wealth creation.
Furthermore, taking advantage of potentially beneficial tax breaks and leveraging resources from culturally relevant financial literacy programs and minority-focused investment firms this year can provide you and your family in 2026 tailored support for the unique challenges Black investors face. Ultimately, discipline, education, and consistent action in these areas can pave the way for long-term financial independence and security.
Happy New Year. 2026 is here. Let’s all make this the best year ever!
