With Memorial Day around the corner, what are some of your summer goals?
Dwayne Renal Sims, Bowie, Maryland
Iโm looking forward to the families across generations to come to a free day at the ball park. The Negro League Legends’ Hall of Fame Game has free admission and free parking, in partnership with The Washington Informer. E-tickets for the game will be available June 1.

This summer, I am studying for the Enrolled Agent (EA) exam.ย It is a three-part test administered by the IRS.ย I have already passed part one.ย Only two to go! Passing it is the primary requirement to become an Enrolled Agent, granting me federally authorized tax practitioner status with unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS.ย EAs have the same representation rights as CPAs and tax attorneys, but they specialize entirely in taxation and can practice in all 50 states.

My main goal for this summer is to focus on personal happiness and prioritize intentional, quality time with my children, my partner, and the close friends who support me. I want this season to be about slowing down, strengthening those core relationships, and creating lasting, loving memories that I will cherish a lifetime!
Juwan Blocker, Bryans Road, Maryland
This summer, Iโm locked in on one mission: Building The Meet Up Podcast into a space where people who are struggling right now can find both inspiration and real direction. A place where you donโt just feel seen you get access to conversations, experts, and tools to help you move forward. Because in Maryland, weโre seeing some of the steepest federal job losses in the country.
Mel Spruill, Bowie, Maryland
One of the things Iโm most excited and grateful for is finally visiting the Outer Banks after the flooding that devastated our Maryland home last summer. After enduring over $200,000 in damage and such a long road of repairs, seeing our home restored and life returning to normal feels like an incredible blessing. I truly cannot wait to relax, make new memories with my family.
