A new state-run mass vaccination site for coronavirus vaccinations opened Thursday in Charles County.

The appointment-only site is at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf. Marylandโ€™s health department said the number of doses available isnโ€™t clear at this point, WJLA-TV (Channel 7) reported.

The opening of the Charles County site is in line with the stateโ€™s goal of having at least one mass vaccination site in each region.

Gov. Larry Hogan, emboldened by the stateโ€™s recent record high of 35,730 shots per day, expressed his desire to see distribution increased. He announced the state is in discussions with counties that have expressed an interest in hosting a mass vaccination site but noted expanding the number and capacity of those sites is dependent on the federal government increasing supply, WJLA reported.
