The odds of dying from the coronavirus are 40 times greater than getting a rare blood clot after receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, according to a CNN analysis.
The network cited a report Wednesday from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that 28 of the 8.7 million people given the Johnson & Johnson vaccine have developed a rare blood clotting disorder known as thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS). Three of the 28 affected have died from the ailment.
But during the same period from March 2 to May 7, Johns Hopkins University shows that more than 2.2 million new coronavirus cases and 43,000 related deaths were recorded, CNN reported.
The chances a person vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will develop TTS are less than one in 300,000, CNN reported, citing CDC data.
