Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry revealed that he will not be participating in the Rio Olympics in a statement. After spraining his right knee against the Houston Rockets in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, Curry said that he wants to take time to rest for the next season.
โAfter a great deal of internal thought and several discussions with my family, the Warriors and my representatives, Iโve elected to withdraw my name from the list of eligible players on Team USAโs preliminary roster for the 2016 Summer Games in Brazil,โ Curry said. โHowever, due to several factors โ including recent ankle and knee injuries โ I believe this is the best decision for me at this stage of my career. Itโs an incredible honor to represent your country and wear โUSAโ on your chest, but my primary basketball-related objective this summer needs to focus on my body and getting ready for the 2016-17 NBA season.โ

Curry will finish out this season as he and his team will continue in the finals with tonightโs Game 4 against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
