Darrelle Revis miffed that Jets aren’t committed to keeping him

Darrelle Revis has said numerous times that he wants to remain a Jet. But the three-time All-Pro cornerback has gotten no indication that the feeling is mutual.

During an NFL Network interview that aired Monday night, Revis made it clear that his future with the Jets rests in the team owner’s hands. “. . . It starts from the top. It starts with Woody Johnson,” Revis said.

Asked if he thinks Johnson doesn’t want to pay him enough to retain him long-term, Revis said: “That might be a situation . . . that might be something. It might be an option.

“If I do get traded, I’m not going to sit here and pout and cry. But I told them numerous times that I want to be there. So it’s up to them and management and what they want to do.”

The Jets — a salary cap-strapped team in need of skill-position players — must figure out if they can afford Revis, who staged a 36-day holdout in 2010 before signing a front-loaded four-year, $46-million deal. There’s no guarantee, of course, that Revis, who suffered a season-ending left ACL tear in Week 3, will be a shutdown cornerback again.

The night before new general manager John Idzik’s introductory news conference Jan. 24, a CBS Sports report said Johnson is “very interested” in trading Revis, and by morning, the rumors were running rampant.
