RollingOut, the African American-owned multimedia platform, has launched the third installment of its “Because We Met” campaign with Genesis Motor America, this time featuring musical duo Avery*Sunshine and Dana Johnson.
The 2025 campaign, titled “Driving Imagination Forward,” spotlights the husband-and-wife team’s connection to historically Black colleges and universities. Avery*Sunshine attended Spelman College, while Johnson graduated from Morehouse College.
The program highlights how HBCU experiences shape personal and professional success while showcasing the 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe.
“Participating in the Because We Met program represents a full-circle moment for me,” said Avery*Sunshine, a Spelman alumna. “This partnership with Rolling Out and Genesis transcends mere collaboration; it is a celebration of our legacy, conveyed with elegance, purpose, and authenticity.”
The GV80 Coupe serves as the campaign’s centerpiece, featuring an athletic fastback profile, aggressive front grille and aerodynamic design. Interior amenities include diamond-stitched Nappa leather seats, a 27-inch panoramic OLED display and customizable ambient lighting.
Amy Marentic, chief marketing officer of Genesis Motor America, said the collaboration “honors the legacy of HBCUs and their profound and lasting impact on their students and alumni.”
Munson Steed, CEO and publisher of RollingOut, said the partnership has created “an amazing journey spotlighting HBCU alumni, influencers, and content creators.” He noted that both Avery*Sunshine and Johnson own Genesis vehicles.

This marks the latest evolution of the “Because We Met” series, which launched as a tribute to HBCU culture and the connections formed on historically Black college campuses.
