John Forté, a Grammy-nominated artist, songwriter and producer, was found dead at 50 in his home in Chilmark, Massachusetts, with no signs of foul play; he had previously been arrested in 2000 on drug trafficking charges and had since rebuilt his life and career, becoming an active presence in the local arts community.
