Measles Outbreaks Prove Harder to Stop as U.S. Cases Climb, Raising Fresh Concerns in D.C.

The measles virus is becoming increasingly difficult to contain as outbreaks spread beyond isolated pockets of unvaccinated residents, with the U.S. on pace to eclipse last year’s surge in cases, and 93% of this year’s infections associated with outbreaks and 93% occurring in people who were unvaccinated or whose vaccination status was unknown.
