Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis has signed on to play the role of former first lady Michelle Obama for the upcoming Showtime series โ€œFirst Ladies.โ€

The show, which will focus on the East Wing, will reportedly โ€œpeel back the curtain on the personal and political livesโ€ of past first ladies, according to Variety.

Davis, a fan of Obama, shared the news of her new role on Twitter, writing: โ€œSooo proud!!! Honoring and elevating these powerful, worthy Queens with respect.โ€

Although a full cast has yet to be announced, the White House roles of Eleanor Roosevelt and Betty Ford will also be featured.

Davis wonโ€™t be the first actress to portray Obama onscreen, as Tika Sumpter played her in 2016โ€™s โ€œSouthside with You.โ€
