The Greater Washington Urban League held the 45th Annual Whitney M. Young, Jr. Memorial gala at the Ronald Reagan Building in Northwest on March 10. Lalah Hathaway was the featured performer. David M. Rubenstein, co-founder and co-CEO of the Carlyle Group received a Philanthropy award, Lonnie Bunch, founding director of the National Museum of African American History and Culture received the Impact Leader award, and W. Christopher Smith, Jr., chairman and CEO of WC Smith received a Community Development award. Scholarships were presented by several organizations including Comcast.
