The Center for the Arts at George Mason University announced singer-songwriter Angelique Kidjo will perform at the university in Fairfax, Virginia, on March 2 at 7 p.m.
Kidjo, a five-time Grammy Award winner, has released 16 albums over her career. Time magazine named her one of 2021’s “Most Influential People,” and The Guardian listed her among the “Top 100 Most Inspiring Women in the World.”
Her music combines West African rhythms with jazz, pop, funk, R&B, Latin and dance music. She has collaborated with musicians including Bono, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Branford Marsalis, Carlos Santana, Philip Glass, Dianne Reeves and the Kronos Quartet.
Other performers in the Center for the Arts 2024-25 season include Lea Salonga, Ballet Hispanico, Mark Morris Dance Group, Arturo Sandoval, Silkroad Ensemble, Branford Marsalis, Versa-Style Street Dance Company, Czech National Philharmonic, Les Arts Florissants and Virginia Opera.
