During the recent Ward 5 Democrats virtual meeting, District resident Robert โ€œBobโ€ King received the MVP Award for his โ€œtireless work with seniors,โ€ ensuring that they were not forgotten in this yearโ€™s election cycle.

Gordon-Andrew Fletcher, chair, Ward 5 Democrats, said while presenting the award, โ€œAs a direct result of his relentless efforts to have the Board of Elections provide mail-in ballots for all seniors in the District, every voter in D.C.โ€

King served as a featured speaker on the DC Federation of Democratic Womenโ€™s virtual workshop โ€œHow to Navigate the DC Ballotโ€ in cooperation with the Board of Elections and served as a link to the board for the DCFDW Team 2020. The Team featured youth who distributed 7,000 GOTV flyers in the lowest voting precincts in Wards 5, 7 and 8 and to many public housing residents.

โ€œSeniors are our most stable, consistent and reliable voting bloc,โ€ Fletcher said. โ€œThanks again and congratulations Bob. We canโ€™t wait for the continued work provided by you and your committee with the Ward 5 Democrats. Weโ€™re lucky to have your wisdom and leadership.โ€
