During the recent Ward 5 Democrats virtual meeting, District resident Robert “Bob” King received the MVP Award for his “tireless work with seniors,” ensuring that they were not forgotten in this year’s election cycle.

Gordon-Andrew Fletcher, chair, Ward 5 Democrats, said while presenting the award, “As a direct result of his relentless efforts to have the Board of Elections provide mail-in ballots for all seniors in the District, every voter in D.C.”

King served as a featured speaker on the DC Federation of Democratic Women’s virtual workshop “How to Navigate the DC Ballot” in cooperation with the Board of Elections and served as a link to the board for the DCFDW Team 2020. The Team featured youth who distributed 7,000 GOTV flyers in the lowest voting precincts in Wards 5, 7 and 8 and to many public housing residents.

“Seniors are our most stable, consistent and reliable voting bloc,” Fletcher said. “Thanks again and congratulations Bob. We can’t wait for the continued work provided by you and your committee with the Ward 5 Democrats. We’re lucky to have your wisdom and leadership.”
