Hundreds of guests donning bright, beautiful and sparkly ensembles flocked to the Westin DC Downtown for the Pearl and Ivy Educational Foundationโs (PIEF) 16th Annual Pink Hat Tea, held in partnership with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Xi Omega Chapter.
The April 26 event, under the 2026 theme: โPoise and Paillettes: An Afternoon Where Style Meets Purpose on the Platform,โ was a luncheon with a purpose, as PIEF โ the educational foundation of Xi Omega Chapter โ furthered its mission to raise scholarship funds for college-bound D.C. students. With a fun-filled hat fashion show featuring designs from American Hats, LLC, the event furthered the work of PIEF, which has raised more than $1 million in scholarship funds for local students since its founding in 1988.ย
In addition, anchor Molette Green of NBC 4 Washington, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, and Wes Hall of Monumental Sports Network served as the eventโs engaging hosts. Further, special speakers included AKA North Atlantic Regional Director Elicia Pegues Spearman; Inaugural Honorary Chair and award-winning author Michelle Miller; WHUT-TV host and lifestyle expert George Worrell; and celebrity VIPs: radio personality Sunni and the City and Paris Courtney Titus, 2025 Ultimate International Pre-Teen.
โPink Hat Tea is more than a beautiful tradition for us โ it is a powerful investment in the future of our students and our community,โ said Deidra A. Davis, president of Xi Omega Chapter and the Pearl and Ivy Educational Foundation. โEach year, this event brings together service, scholarship and sisterhood in an extraordinary way, allowing us to create meaningful opportunities for deserving D.C. scholars while celebrating the elegance, excellence and impact that define our organization.โ
