(PC Mag) – Adobe is the undisputed king of image editing software, but it has been slow to innovate on mobile devices. We’ve got paid versions of Photoshop on iOS and Android, but those are overkill for most smartphone and tablet users. Meanwhile, less premium products do little more than apply filters. The newly announced Photoshop Mix for iPad fits in between those extremes with support for multiple file types, merging images, layers, and yes, filters.

Photoshop Mix can open PSD files from Photoshop on the desktop, as well as images from Creative Cloud, Lightroom Mobile, Facebook, and the camera roll. It contains a good number of high-quality (read: better than Instagram) filters and looks that you can apply to the entire image, or just one section.
