AmeriHealth Caritas District of Columbia, a Medicaid-managed health care plan serving D.C., has been recognized as the city’s highest-rated Medicaid plan.

The organization, which also serves part of the AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies, was noted for its achievement by the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s Medicaid Health Insurance Plan Ratings 2015–2016.

“AmeriHealth Caritas District of Columbia is committed to making quality health care, and particularly preventive care, accessible to Washingtonians most in need. Our performance in NCQA’s Medicaid Health Insurance Plan ratings demonstrates how we are succeeding in providing innovative solutions that support our members to be healthy,” said Karen Dale, market president for AmeriHealth Caritas District of Columbia.

AmeriHealth Caritas District of Columbia earned the top rating based on the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS), a tool that measures performance on important dimensions of care and service, as well as the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey, which measures member satisfaction with their overall health care experience.

“Our care model emphasizes early detection and prevention, as well as integrating behavioral health,” said Melanie Sage, director of quality management for AmeriHealth Caritas District of Columbia. “We are empowering our members to be more engaged in their care by promoting self-management and overall awareness in health and wellness.”
