Members of the Anacostia High School football team have been placed on quarantine after possible exposure to the coronavirus, D.C. Public Schools confirmed.

The players quarantined over the weekend weren’t the first to have been sent home so far in the young school year, though several others previously quarantined have since returned to school, a staff member at Anacostia told WUSA-TV (Channel 9).

There is no vaccine mandate for DCPS student-athletes even though they are eligible to get vaccinated.

Roughly 66% of residents ages 12-17 have been fully vaccinated, WUSA reported.
