The new Will Smith and Martin Lawrence film “Bad Boys for Life” topped the box-office receipts during its debut last weekend, pulling in $59 million more than expected, and is poised to cross $68 million through Monday, according to trade magazine Variety.
With solid critical reviews and an “A” CinemaScore from viewers that appear to have had an impact and boosted ticket sales, “Bad Boys for Life” now holds the second-biggest opening ever for a January release behind only “American Sniper.”
The film also collected $37.3 million overseas with the film to pass $100 million worldwide after Monday — all on a cost-effective $90 million budget.
