President-elect Joe Biden on Thursday said his proposed $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package will include more of stimulus checks, with the latest amount of $1,400 intended to offset the relatively small $600 payments that began going out this month.

The direct payments are part of Bidenโ€™s American Rescue Plan, which aims to assist those struggling to make ends meet since the global pandemic began nearly a year ago.

The plan, which has to meet congressional approval, is packed with proposals regarding health care, education, labor and cybersecurity.

In addition to an extra $400 per week for unemployed and affected workers, $416 billion has been earmarked for a national vaccination program covering 50 million people and reopening schools in Bidenโ€™s first 100 days in office, NBC News reported.
