Billionaires Getting Wealthier During Pandemic: Report

While many Americans have suffered financially since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, the county’s billionaires have prospered.

CNN reported Friday that billionaires have become $565 billion richer since March 18, citing the Institute for Policy Studies, a progressive think tank.

Total wealth for billionaires stands at $3.5 trillion — up 19 percent from the low point near the start of the pandemic — CNN reported, pointing out that Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has amassed $36.2 billion since March 18.

In contrast, nearly 43 million Americans have filed for initial unemployment benefits since mid-March.
