Led by junior guard Ahmaad Wilson’s 20 points, the Bowie State Bulldogs defeated the Fayetteville State Broncos to capture the Central Interscholastic Athletic Association (CIAA) men’s basketball tournament championship game, 62-54, on Feb. 25 in Charlotte.

The victory marks the first time Bowie State has won the CIAA Tournament title since 2013; it’s the school’s third CIAA championship title. Wilson was named the 2017 CIAA Tournament MVP, scoring 85 points in four, grueling, night-to-night games against Johnson C. Smith, Virginia Union and Livingstone College before advancing to the championship game against Fayetteville State.

Bowie State receives an automatic bid in the NCAA Division II men’s basketball tournament, which kicks off in March.
