D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has nominated Brian Kenner, her former deputy mayor for planning and economic development, to fill a vacancy on the Events DC board of directors.

Bowser advanced legislation late last month to appoint Kenner, who left District government in the summer for a similar post with Amazon.com, after a four-and-a-half-year tenure in her administration.

If the D.C. Council approves Kenner, he would serve a four-year term on the sports and convention authority’s board ending in 2023.

Kenner wrote in a resume attached to the nominating legislation that his current work with Amazon involves “supporting investment and expansions in VA, Washington, D.C. and MD.”

He is also responsible for working with “regional economic development and workforce development organizations on policies and programs that support economic diversity in the region.”
